Local heritage book Auswanderer Soltau/Heidmark

This database contains personal data of emigrants and their families. The data was entered in the context of the collection for the Soltau-Walsrode family database https://www.online-ofb.de/soltau/ and the OFB Dorfmark https://www.online-ofb.de/dorfmark/ . Mainly families who emigrated from the Heidmark were entered. Emigrants from neighbouring villages were also included if this was found during the research. Places where the emigrants came from are mainly Dorfmark, Düshorn, Kirchwalsede, Ostenholz, Soltau, Verden, Visselhövede, Walsrode. The list of places is certainly not complete.

This database is intended to present emigrants from the areas mentioned for a better overview. The emigrated persons as well as their immediate family (parents and their children born abroad) were extracted from the above mentioned databases. A link to the original databases then leads to the other family members and ancestors. Therefore this emigrant database should be considered in connection with the other two databases.

The emigrant data is not complete and will be continuously supplemented as data is collected for the Soltau and Dorfmark database. Since it was not always possible to determine the origin or the whereabouts of the emigrated persons or relatives, additional data would be appreciated.

The sources underlying the data can be found in the individual data sets.

In the alphabetical index one should consider the continuous evolution of family names. For example, check both 'Offensand' and 'Auf dem Sande,' Frieling and 'von Frieling.' Names may have a 'zum' 'zu' 'von' 'vom' or 'auf der' preceding them.
Often variations of family names were reduced to one basic form.

Along with this database a blog has been created where interested parties can take a look at articles that show work process, searched for data or corrections in between updates: ofb-soltau-walsrode.jimdofree.com
