Local heritage book of Possessern u. Haarszen

The registry offices in Haarszen and Possessern [1, 2] were established during autumn of 1874.  Their respective precincts included the following villages, estates and dwelling places:

1884 the numbers of residents [9] in these two registration precincts were:
        Haarszen       -    952
        Possessern  -   1663

From 1892 the area of the Haarszen precinct was serviced by the Possessern registry office.   [The  registers of the Possessern parish (established in 1892) have been lost through the ravages of World Wars I and II. ]
The civil registers kept at the Berlin State Archives have been digitised by Ancestry [10]  and can be downloaded in so far as they are not subject to statutory blocking periods.

The original capture of the Possessern registers into Excel-tables by Heinrich Grinda dates back to the years before 2016.  At that time the register images were available only on films, of which the originals had been photographed by the GSU [11] in Berlin-Dahlem in 1952.  By 2017 the registers of the rather short-lived Haarszen registry office had become available via Ancestry as digital images and were captured by Waldemar Hartwich.  This local heritage book covering the area of the former Haarszen and Possessern registry precincts is mainly based on these Excel-tables. 

In addition to the data from the civil registers, the personal information in the "Angerburger Kreisblatt" [12] from 1855 to 1907 [digitization and capture Winfried Lyszio] and the relevant telephone books from 1914 [13] and 1942 [14] has been captured and incorporated into this heritage book. Thomas Kuschmierz contributed complementary family-related data.

The reponsibility for all errors, omissions, inaccuracies etc., however, rests exclusively with the editor.
