Local heritage book of Heiligenstadt i.OFr.Heiligenstadt in Oberfranken lies in the valley of the Leinleiter in the heart of the so-called "Fränkische Schweiz". The Lutheran church there historically served the surrounding community from Brunn (Bronn) in the North to Störnhof in the South, from Oberleinleiter and Burggrub in the West to the Aufseß valley in the East. This OFB is a partial compilation of the church records from Heiligenstadt i. OFr. and is an on-going project. The period covered by those church books is from 1655 to 1927. The records reflect a diversity of confession and many records concerning Catholic residents are recorded in the Lutheran church books and, likewise, Lutheran records appear in the Catholic church books from the area. Further, some of the outlying villages in the Heiligenstadt congregation were at times served by surrounding churches and I have drawn from those other sources, as well. Beside Heiligenstadt, the following list of villages are contained within this community. I have presently made no attempt to standardize the spelling of these places and have generally recorded them as written by the pastor or priest when he recorded them at the time. Brunn (Bronn)
