Local heritage book Baltimore, Maryland, USA

Zion Lutheran Church, Baltimore, Maryland

For the most part, the available data originate from the church register of the German Lutheran parish of Zions in Baltimore from the period 1786 to 1977, taking into account the data protection regulations. Further data is taken from daily newspapers in Baltimore and the surrounding area.

In detail:

  • The German Correspondent - 1857 - 1920 - Daily newspaper in Baltimore - German speaking
  • The (Baltimore) Sun - English-speaking
  • Baltimore Evening Post - Daily newspaper in Baltimore - English language
  • Columbian Centinel - Daily newspaper in the north-east - English language
  • and others
  • Further data from:
  • Health Department of Baltimore - Certificates of Death
  • Grave map file Baltinore
  • Grave occupancy lists of different cemeteries
  • Find a Grave
  • FamilySearch
  • Census data
  • Passenger lists
  • Church records from USA and Germany (Archion)

and other sources.

The registration of the church register entries was carried out by a team of the Lower Saxony State Association for Family Studies. (NLF). For this purpose, the church register carding of the program GEN_DO! was used, which was designed for teamwork. After completion of the complete mapping, the persons and families, who had often been mentioned in several church book entries, were brought together.

In the meantime, work has begun to include entries from German parish registers, to which the entries of the Church of Zion in Baltimore refer. Supplements may be delivered. Please also provide detailed references according to the procedure implemented in this SFO!

The NLF-Team hereby presents its results. We hope to make a good contribution to the research of emigration and are looking forward to receiving correction reports and additions.
